Job Description:

  • The IT & Cybersecurity Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of the organization’s information security framework and IT infrastructure
  • The role focuses on monitoring network and system activities, identifying potential security threats, and assisting in the response to cybersecurity incidents.
  • Working under the supervision of the IT & Cybersecurity Manager, the Officer ensures that security policies, procedures, and controls are effectively applied across all systems and users. The position also contributes to maintaining secure network configurations, conducting routine vulnerability checks, and promoting cybersecurity awareness among employees to safeguard organizational data and digital assets.
  • Assist in implementing and enforcing IT security policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
  • Monitor network and system activities to detect suspicious behavior, potential breaches, or unauthorized access attempts.
  • Perform routine vulnerability scans and security checks to identify and report system weaknesses.
  • Support the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of security tools such as firewalls, antivirus systems, and VPNs.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including initial investigation, documentation, and escalation to the IT & Cybersecurity Manager.
  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure systems, servers, and endpoints are securely configured and updated.
  • Support staff by providing security awareness tips and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  • Assist in keeping track of security updates, patches, and emerging threats, and report relevant findings to the Manager.
  • Help maintain accurate records of security incidents, configurations, and audit findings.
  • Support the evaluation and testing of new security tools or solutions as directed by the IT & Cybersecurity Manager.
  • Maintain documentation of security policies, procedures, incident reports, and security-related configurations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and common cybersecurity technologies.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as antivirus software, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge of access control, authentication methods, and data protection principles.
  • Awareness of web application and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail in identifying and reporting security issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to effectively coordinate with IT and business departments.
