Job Description
The IoT Optimization Engineer is responsible for ensuring end-to-end performance, reliability, and service quality of IoT connectivity services within a telecom operator environment. This role owns the full IoT service lifecycle, from solution design validation and onboarding to live network optimization, troubleshooting, and large-scale deployment support. The position requires deep hands-on expertise across IoT devices, cellular access networks, mobile core, IP connectivity, and IoT platforms, with a strong focus on root cause analysis, service assurance, and continuous optimization for enterprise and industrial IoT customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end IoT service performance and optimization across:
- IoT devices
- Cellular access networks
- Mobile core and IP transport
- IoT platforms and enterprise applications
- Review, validate, and optimize IoT solution designs during onboarding and service introduction.
- Perform E2E connectivity troubleshooting across:
- 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G
- NB-IoT and LTE-M
- Configure, provision, and assure IoT services, including:
- SIM and eSIM lifecycle management
- APN and service profiles
- IP addressing, routing, NAT, and VPN connectivity
- Conduct deep, hands-on troubleshooting of:
- Device attach and session establishment failures
- Intermittent connectivity issues
- Latency, packet loss, and throughput degradation
- Power consumption and device behavior anomalies
- Perform structured root cause analysis (RCA) and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with:
- Device and chipset vendors
- IoT platform providers
- Internal network, IT, and operations teams
- Enterprise and industrial customers
- Support pre-sales activities, technical workshops, pilots, and proof-of-concepts.
- Provide operational support for large-scale IoT rollouts and service expansions.
Technical Skills & Expertise (Required hands-on expertise in):
- IoT architectures and design patterns, including E2E service flows.

- SGW, PGW, UPF
- HLR, HSS, UDM
- PCRF, PCF
- IP networking fundamentals:
- Routing, NAT, VPNs
- Private and public IP addressing
- Network troubleshooting and packet analysis tools.
- IoT platforms and service enablement platforms (connectivity management, device management).
Device & Hardware Understanding
- Strong understanding of IoT devices and hardware, including:
- Chipsets and modem behavior
- Firmware and software stack interactions
- Power management and battery optimization
- RF behavior and coverage considerations
- Ability to diagnose and isolate issues at:
- Device layer
- Network layer
- Core and platform layer
Experience & Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in IoT, telecom networks, or enterprise connectivity services.
- Strong preference for candidates with telecom operator experience.
- Background in:
- IoT service operations
- Network optimization
- Technical support or solution engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.

- Clear and structured communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Exposure to cloud-based IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT).
- Experience with automation or scripting (Python, Shell).
- Hands-on involvement in large-scale or mission-critical IoT deployments.
- Familiarity with industrial IoT use cases (utilities, smart metering, logistics, smart cities).
